The Philippines is an archipelago that is comprised of about 7100 islands, and it is known for its world-class beaches and tropical climate. Its capital is Manila, which is a part of the bustling metropolitan National Capital Region that houses key cities such as Makati city (Financial district) and Valenzuela city (Industrial district).

The country boasts of a unique identity that is a mixture of different cultures and communities from western as well as its neighboring eastern countries. Philippine culture shares a lot of similarities with Western culture as it was occupied by Spain for around 300 years and the United States for about 50 years.  Filipinos are known for their hospitality and “bayanihan” spirit or camaraderie.  The Philippines has the highest English literacy rate in Asia – 93.8%. The Philippines is the 3rd largest English speaking nation in the world
